Birdies for Charity (updated 06-25-2009)
Dear Stingrays,
Over the next few days the coaching staff will be handing out John Deere Classic Birdies for Charity pledge pamphlets. This is a simple way to raise money for our team, and each pledge has a chance to win some great prizes, one of which is a new car.
I would appreciate it if each family would fill out one pledge card and return it to practice within a week.
The pamphlet explains the process very well, but if anyone has any questions please see me at practice.
Thanks for your pledges and good luck. It would be really cool if someone from the Stingrays won a new car.

Thanks.
Coach Scott

Comment about PVST Meet Entry Procedures.
We have had a lot of late requests for meet entries and cancellations after our due date. Please note that this creates significant extra effort for us and the host team.

We close entries several days before the host team's due date. This provides time to organize entries and complete the documentation. Please sign-up on-line or on the bulletin board in advance of the due date on the sign-up form and our published meet schedule. The due date in the meet packets are not applicable.

Thanks for your help.

PVST has achieved - USA Club Level 2 Recognition Program Certificaton.
I am pleased to announce that PVST has officially achieved Level 2 Certification in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. The program recognizes clubs that have developed strong, stable, financially sound and athletically productive organizations. The recognition committee looks at many different factors that help create "great" clubs, which are grouped into four major component areas:
1) Business & Organizational Success
2) Parent & Volunteer Development
3) Coach Development & Education
4) Athlete Development & Performance

PVST is the only team in the state of Iowa to achieve either a level 1 or 2. Our new status is reflected on the USA Swimming website.

Please join me in congratulating the volunteers, coaches, swimmers and parent on our new club recognition.
Also, a special thanks goes to Dave Burke for organizing our submittal.

PVST Summer Stoke Clinics. (updated 07-01-2009)
The following are clinic dates and times

July 18th 10 - 11 am

There is a limit of 36 swimmers per clinic and they must sign up in advance.
No swimmer may sign up for more than two clinics in a row.
Swimmers and parents must enter and exit PV High School from the east side near the Wellness Room.
The clinic will to coached by members of the coaching staff.

Please signup on the “Schedule & Statistics” webpage thru the “Online Meet Processing Window Area”, module window. Fill in the meet entry fields as you would for a normal meet entry. Choose the “Other meet not listed” selection in the drop down “Meets” field. Use the Comment field for describing your Clinic selection dates. There is a webpage “Stroke Clinic Roster” that will be updated(manually) that will show the swimmers who have already made selections. Click here to view the page, is the same page the Team Roster is displayed on.

FYI ... Stroke Clinics
We have been asked about the content of the optional Saturday Stroke Clinics. Each clinic will address all of the strokes with turns. Each will be tailored to the time of the season it is held and what the participating swimmers need to work on. Some of the clinic overlap with swim meets. The dates were selected based on the Saturdays that were available at PVHS.

Thanks for you support.

Other Practice Information

Dry land Training
Dry land Training will be offered this summer, for members of the Red, High School and white Groups only. Beginning the second part of the season, when school is out for the year.
	Red/High School 6:30 – 7:15 pm immediately following practice.
White Group 5:45 – 6:30 pm prior to practice.
Dry land will be conducted on the pool deck. Please note that dry land will be a strict regimen. A swimmer participating in horse play and/or does not perform the exercises will be excused from dry land training.

Stroke Development
In order to have a more controlled coaching atmosphere, the head coach will write the weekly objective. The Lead Stroke development Coach will coordinate the implementation of the practice.

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded for all groups. This will help with billing issues and other practices concerns.

Practice Objectives
The main objective to each group’s daily practice will be posted on the web site for the upcoming week. This will allow parents to see what coaches plan to work on any specific day; however, the actual practice sets and intervals will not be posted. Even though every effort will be made to follow the posted practice objectives, the coaching staff does reserve the right to modify or change the practice objective if a situation or need arises.

PVST Spring/Summer 2009 Registration. (updated 04-15-2009)

Good News --- The PV School District has offered to extend our pool time for the summer season and for our next fall / winter season. This will be a great help to our kids and the club. The Spring / Summer swim season is scheduled to start on Monday April 13th. We hope that you all will join us for another great season.

Public Registration --- Feel free to contact Lisa Nauman at jlnauman@mchsi.com if you have any questions.

During the summer, we are planning more Stroke Development groups to reduce the number swimmers at each session. We will also be introducing a new enhanced program. Also during the summer, all swimmers will practice at PVHS in the evenings with a limited exceptions.
From April until the end of school, the practice schedule is explained (see above statement at top of page). We will begin our expanded PVHS pool time schedule when school ends. Please join me in thanking the School District for expanding our available pool time, which will also be the case next school year (entire fall / winter season).
